The peculiarity of the CHENIFLON chemical nickel coating is the dispersion of microparticles of Teflon PTFE in the matrix of nickel. This allows us to get an extremely self-lubricated final surface that ensures non-stick properties and water repellence for a long time. The Teflon particles, present in a percentage varying from 20 to 30% with a diameter of about 1 micron, are incorporated by the matrix of chemical nickel.
This feature ensures that the Teflon is not removed quickly as in other types of Teflon-based treatments on the market. Thanks to this, the duration of the self-lubricating performance is bound to the very slow reduction of the coating, so as to keep the coefficient of friction low for very long periods. CHENIFLON coating allows us to maintain a uniform thickness on pieces of any shape, even with highly complex geometries.
Besides eliminating the need for expensive mechanical finishing such as final grinding, this provides excellent protection also of internal areas, such as holes or cavities.
Also, thanks to the good adhesion to the substrate, the CHENIFLON coating does not tend to flake off even when highly stressed and where it sustains mechanical damage, unlike galvanic deposits (such as chromium), and does not allow corrosion or delamination phenomena, even in case of microporous materials, unless it depends on the material characteristics (aluminium, for example).
The matrix structure of chemical nickel makes the pieces treated extremely resistant to corrosion and wear, reaching levels of several ceramic coatings.
Its very high thermal shock resistance is also outstanding, meaning there are no cracks in a change from 200 ° to -190°.
CHENIFLON has micro-hardness values at around 280/300 HV; these may, however, increase due to hardening heat treatments carried out at a maximum of 300° to reach values of 340/400 HV.
These values are to be considered average (a.v.) since it is a composite process with particles of PTFE (Teflon).
The material is non-magnetic, and exhibits slight magnetic characteristics only after heat treatment. The material has good thermal conductivity and moderate electrical conductivity.
CHENIFLON offers much higher mechanical performance than the normal Teflon spray processes since the Teflon particles are embedded in the metallic matrix.

Notes: to prevent leakage of impurities from the assembly area, nickel plating of assembled parts is not recommended. Some alloys and materials are also incompatible with the treatment. The parts must be supplied free of impurities and oily residue. If necessary, they can be carried out with preparation operations such as guards or masking, and also micro-sandblasting, micro-shot-peening, ultrasonic cleaning even for large sizes, etc. It is advisable to talk to ARGOS technicians for any details, questions or advice regarding the operations described above.
